This year marks the 30th anniversary of the Võru Institute’s autumn conferences. On October 22–23, a conference entitled “Finnic Boundaries” will be held in Võru. The Finnic languages are closely related to each other, ranging from Livonian, Võro and Seto to Kven, from Meänkieli to Vepsian. The conference will focus on the history, present, and future of these languages, which will be examined using methods from linguistics, archaeology, genetics, folklore studies, and other fields.
